Name: Dawn Long

Where were you born and raised?  Born in Superior, WI and raised in Wentworth, WI.

When did you begin running?  I began running a little in about 1978.  My first marathon was 1982.

How did you get started running? I always thought it was a good idea to exercise, which I always did in some form or another.  There was quite a running boom in he 70s, so I jumped on the bandwagon.

Favorite distance to run: The Marathon is my favorite race distance.

Favorite race:  The Equinox Marathon in Fairbanks, AK has always been one of my favorites.

Favorite Track N Trail event:  The Grand Canyon trip

Favorite place to run:  My favorite places to run are trails in the woods of Northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, and any desert trail at sunrise in Arizona.

Favorite Quote: Life begins at the end of your comfort zone -Neale Donald Walsch-

Favorite Song to Listen to while running:  I listen to music only when I run on a treadmill.  My iPod has an eclectic mix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Yo-Yo Ma, Of Monster and Men, The Lunineers, Death Cab for Cutie…..not really a running playlist, just music I like.

If you could run anywhere in the world where would it be?  I’ve been lucky to have been to a few places I can cross off the list, but too many more to go – I’ll just throw a dart at the world map and let you know.

Other Hobbies:  Apparently I collect cookbooks.  I love to snowshoe, hike, read, watch documentaries, spend time with my granddaughter.

Advice for new runners:  If running turns out to be for you, you will meet many great people in this tribe!  Have fun!!
